The website launch checklist for small businesses
A new website should start working for you the day it goes live. Before you call it done, run through these six checks. Each one directly affects whether people find you, trust you and get in touch.
1. It loads fast on a phone
Most visitors arrive on mobile, often on a weak connection. Compress images (WebP is ideal), avoid heavy sliders and scripts, and test on a real phone, not just a desktop browser.
2. Every page has a clear title and description
Unique title tags and meta descriptions tell search engines what each page is about and give people a reason to click. Lead with what you do and where you do it.
3. Customers can contact you in one tap
Put a clear call to action on every page: a tap-to-call number, a short form or a booking button. If someone has to hunt for how to reach you, they'll go to a competitor instead.
4. Search engines can find everything
Submit a sitemap in Google Search Console, make sure robots.txt isn't blocking important pages, and add structured data so search results can show your business details.
5. You can see what's working
Set up basic analytics and track form submissions and calls, so you know which pages bring in leads and where people drop off.
6. You have a plan to keep growing
A site that never changes slowly sinks in search. Regular, helpful content and local SEO keep new visitors arriving long after launch day.
